Family History in AldbourneInterest in Family History has grown out of all recognition in the past ten years. It is no longer a pursuit for aristocratic families, nor even for those whose family traditions lead them to believe that they were once aristocratic. Nowadays people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe are searching for their roots, and those roots are just as interesting and important when they sprout from humble labouring stock as when they derive from more elevated strata of society.
The Dabchick, the village library and my own Aldbourne OPC site are receiving increasing numbers of enquiries from all four corners of the globe from people tracing their Dabchick ancestors, and it's time that interest was reflected in this Community site by more than just a Discussion Forum. This section will be a growing repository of Family History resources and links for Aldbourne, together with stories and photographs and other data of interest to those with roots in the village. Hopefully they will be interesting to others as well. Sections planned for the site so far include:
