Human remains have been discovered during the recent renovation work at Lower Slaughter library. The police suspect that they may date back to 1895 (the last time work was carried out on the building), and have identified the body as Mr Prose, the librarian at the time. Mr Prose was reported missing when he failed to turn up for the opening of the new wing. Traces of poison were found and foul play is suspected.
Inspector Asinine, the local detective, is reviewing the file from the time and has identified 14 possible suspects, however, all seem to have airtight alibis.
