Haiti Earthquake Relief - Lizzi Ludlow

• News listing

"Youth with a Mission"

Lizzi is going to Haiti to help with relief work. She will have to fund this herself and the flight will cost around £1000. If anyone should feel motivated to help this local young girl who is putting aside her own plans to give aid and relief to those suffering in Haiti it would be much appreciated.

Please contact Lizzi's Mum, Thea Ludlow, on 540035 (15 The Green, Aldbourne) - for more information. Please make cheques payable to Lizzi Ludlow. Trish in the Aldbourne Library is happy to collect donations for the travel fund and pass them to Thea.

Thea suggests that if Lizzi is unable to raise her target sum (and we do hope she does!) all money that has been collected will be donated to the Haiti Emergency Fund via UNICEF instead.

Lizzi sent us this message from Mendoza, Argentina:

“The Relief Team is being sent by an Christian Missionary organisation, in which I have been working for just under 4 years, called Youth with a Mission (or YWAM). It is an organisation focused on training youth to do missions in any place and it is located in nearly every country in the world.

The work that we do ranges from working in churches, children’s homes, hospitals, with sports teams, art teams, counselling teams and medical teams, both nationally and internationally.

There are 21 people in our team, all from different nations (Argentina, Colombia, the US, Sweden, Puerto Rico, Canada, Brazil and England). We have now been divided into various groups: 8 of us went to Asia to work in leper colonies, children’s homes for girls etc whilst others are now involved with other projects. The team that will go to Haiti consists of eight people, mostly Argentines, one Colombian and one English (me).

In the next couple of days we will be leaving for Buenos Aires, to have basic training in first aid and how to work under extreme circumstances. Another small team will travel with us, who are a trained help and rescue team, who also part of YWAM.

We'll spend approximately one month in Haiti.”

Lizzi has promised me a translation for the caption on the photo, but Isiah 61:4 is "They will re-build cities that have been in ruins" in our Bible at home.
