At last, after many years of planning, fundraising and waiting, Ramsbury & Aldbourne Bowls Club has a new bowling green within the grounds of Ramsbury Recreation Centre. The new green is 38 metres square (41.5 yards) and constructed to a county standard specification with an automated irrigation system. A new, well-insulated, timber pavilion, containing toilets and changing facilities, is available.
Could Bowling be for You?
Although currently one of the smaller clubs in Wiltshire, the Ramsbury and Aldbourne Bowls Club is noted for high standards. The club will be holding twice weekly practice evenings and in 2010 will be introducing a weekly coaching evening. Coaching will be available for both beginners and existing members. A number of existing players are qualified instructors and coaches and six members regularly play for Wiltshire County.
All that you require is a pair of flat shoes, as any kind of heel can damage the flat surface of the green. Bowlers wear special shoes but initially flat trainers or similar footwear is allowed.
The Club will be holding an “Introduction to Bowling” day on Saturday 1st May 2010, from 2pm onwards
Please come along and have a go - you may well be surprised!
